I would like to know in what year was Steele High School torn down? Also was it torn down in order to build the first Rike's parking garage?

Jim Nichols (DDN "Mr. Downtowner") says it was torn down in '54.
And yes, it was replaced with Rike's first parking garage, a big deal at the time as it was Dayton's first multi-story DIY parking facility.

Yes, the Rike's Garage was a novelty at the time it was built, at least here in Dayton it was. I had a childhood friend that remembers the whole family loading into the Ford station wagon one Sunday and going to the new garage, not to park, but just to drive to the top and then come down the fancy circular exit ramp!

So when did it cease being a high school?

My grandfather built that garage - he was one of the founders of Shool Construction. The project drove him nuts with the "peculiar" design and lack of "flexibility" by the workers.
BTW my grandmother attended Steele HS. She and her "sewing bee" group were responsible for the Leo the Lion being moved to DAI.

Curt, I am sorry to be bothering you again with more questions. You seem to be aware of facts about Steele High School. My mother graduated from there in 1932 along with her best friend. Mom passed away April 2 of this year. I am just trying to find out if anyone is keeping records of former students deaths. A few years ago, we got information that my mother and her friend were the last two surviving members of the class of 1932. Whether that was correct or not, I have no idea. Any information you might have might help. Thanks Richard
