That was the body of a Northridge girl named Pansy Ball. At the time she was murdered, there was a carnival with rides and such in the parking lot adjacent to Liberal market. To my knowledge, the murder remains unsolved. Speculation that "carnies" possibly involved.

She was a blonde (bleached) haired girl in her mid twenties. She was raised on Blake Ave. in Northridge. I knew her and her siblings from school, but not well. Came from an alcoholic family. She drank quite a bit herself.I recall hearing about the murder, but never did hear anything about an arrest in the case.

It's a shame. I hope they solved this case, and the person or people who did this were found.

I think this topic was started by ozzie222. I do reaserch on cold cases purely as a hobby... If you are interested on Ohio cases The Charley Project has a site for geographical cases.

I went to high school with her, but I don't remember sharing any classes with her or ever speaking with her. I think she had a twin sister.

Delirious, any info on whatever happened with the Judy Kanter murder? I remember it from when I was a kid -- she was found (shot, I think) at the old country club ruins near what used to be the Salem Mall, mid-1970s. I remember all the kids in Westbrook Village talking about it, since the country club ruins were kind of a teen hang-out. Always wondered whether it was ever solved.

@ wolfcreek, I take it you were a westbrook village resident, I was too for 11 years, never hung out in the country club, but i believe she might have been a village resident. but I may be mistaken. That happened sometime in 74ish.

wolfcreek - I made a previous post on this blog (under the Murders, Suicides, Mayhem and Crime thread) regarding the Plantation Country Club case (Judy Kanter). I was curious because of the Dayton Daily News article back in June 2006, that indicated the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office was reopening the cold case, but I never saw any other news on the matter.

I can't find anything about Judy Kanter. She is not listed on the Mike Dewine Cold Case site, or any other Cold Case murder sites. The only thing I could find is a small crime stoppers discription. She was such a pretty girl. It seems like she was just forgotten. http://miamivalleycrimestoppers.com/2012/01/31/judy-kanter/ Lori Jean Lloyd who disappeared from kettering in the 1970's is another case I think they have given up on.

delirious1 - I went to school and was friends with Judy Kanter. She did live in Westbrook Village. She died in the fall of 1975 after we graduated in June. She was working at the Bill Knapps where Salem and Shiloh Springs crossed. She was a really nice girl and as far as I know nothing new has been found about who murdered her.

I have a cold case mystery, I had an Aunt who was found murdered ? ran over by a car in 1947, It has never been solved, The Dayton Police Dept told the Two Daughter's, maybe 5 or ten years apart, as they were adopted out and hadn't seen each other, till they were in there fifties and they both were told they should not try and open a can of worm's, and were refused access to her Records, It happened on something called 10 mile hill ??? Her name was RoseBuchholz, Rose(Smith) is the name on her tombstone in Memorial Gardens 8135 n. Dixie Dr. Any one knowing anything please contact me. my e-mail is listed with my member I.D.
