Does anyone remember the quarter midget track behind the last row of the drive in ? How about the small putt putt course on the side of the drive in nearest to Dixie and the in ground trampolines ?

I remember the race track by the North Star. I believe it closed down about the same time as the drive-in. Don't remember the putt-putt course though.

I remember Brawley's restuarant being across the street from the track. It closed years ago and is a Chinese place now.

I remember the track. I used to work across the street at Ontario Foods, as a teenager. I used to love those trampoline places. There used to be one down at old Riverside and Needmoore.

Brawleys was on Needmore west of North Dixie. I don't remember a restaurant at Stop Eight and Dixie. There was a grocery store on the SE corner. I think it was a Krogers.

The North Star also had minature golf and trampoline centers facing North Dixie Drive. I don't remember a restaurant ever on the corner of North Dixie and Stop Eight Road and I've been here seventy years.

We used to hitch hike from Vandalia to the Golden Point, get empty gallon jugs which they were nice enough to wash out. We would walk the the Green leaf bar were our friend who looked 18 would have the jugs filled with draft beer. We would make our way to the plat south of the North Star and sneak up through the woods and watch the movies and get drunk and sick. Those were the days.

I worked at the North Star drive-in in late 1966 and early 1967. I was there when the owner's son had a terrible car wreck and a guy named Charlie Vickers was killed. Seems to me they hit a bulldozer where the state was extending Needmore Rd. over to Frederick or Shoup Mill. I remember the boss in the concession stand, John Mason, a woman who worked there named Irene, and a maintenance guy named Bob. I wonder if they are still alive. Anybody know any of them?

The first R-rated movie I can remember seeing was at the North Star. 1972's "X, Y, and Zee" starring Elizabeth Taylor. I think I also saw "Willard" there.
