I remember those Jerry Lewis MD telethon carnival kits that we used to get. I don't remember where we got them, but they would have ideas of games and things you could make and have a backyard carnival to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. We did that for several years and we would invite all the neighbors and charge probably a dime or quarter to play games or watch plays that we would put on. I remember mom taking me and some friends down to wherever they were broadcasting (don't remember where that was) and we would take the money there and donate it. We had so much fun and were so proud that we were helping out even though we probably didn't make much money.

rfk61 I was just wondering what neighborhood you lived in. I grew up in Beavercreek in the plat off of Indian Ripple and Darst Rd. I remember having the carnivals and noticed you said you also had plays...lol I thought we kids were the only ones that had plays and man I can remember also having an awsome haunted house one time

MOHFAS...I had lots of friends who lived in that area. My best friend in grade school thru high school lived on the corner of Darst and Indian Ripple. I lived on Grange Hall, near Indian Ripple.

I remember them, my Mom was big into it and she got the merchants to donate things and we would sell raffles and had all kind of games going on along with selling bake goods. It was a lot of fun.

I put one of those carnivals on in 1974 when I was 11 to benefit MDA. I remember ordering the free carnival kit from Mcdonalds. If your carnival made more than $20.00, your would receive a free gift from Ronald Mcdonald. It was a lot of fun.

I think the kit's also came from Clubhouse 22. For awhile you could get Dr Creep to come to them.
