Hey all,
Any memories of the Fair?
When I was 12 I was a member of the 4-H club in Farmersville. This would have been in 1970. I entered the greased pig contest, where they'd let several piglets (still weighed a ton) out down a ramp from the back of a truck and you'd chase after them and whoever dragged them back to the truck and up the ramp won the pig. Well, I stripped my shirt off and covered myself with dirt and dust (the pigs were released at the race track there). I grabbed at at the pigs a couple of times but slipped off into space as they had a LOT of grease on them. I finally caught one by the back hind legs and sort of backpeddled the VERY LOUD squealing pig like a live wheelbarrel back to the truck and was one of the winners. Trouble was, we didn't have a use for the pig like the other boys did since I wasn't a farmer. Fortunately, someone offered $50 for the squealer and I took it.

I remember my dad taking me to the Fair in 1958.Got to see a old daredevil called Speedy Babbs that rode his motorcycle in a big steel globe round and round and upside down. It was called the Globe of Death. That was something to see back then. Also Conway Twitty was there also ... singing rock & roll at that time.

Yep, I seen Conway also, He sang his hit at the time, "It's Only Make Believe". Walked home afterwards with friends to Northridge.
