The film was first released in 1939, but MGM re-released it a various times, like 25th anniversary etc. Each new release had some type of tweek to it like reprocessing the sound track into stereo hi-fi. One of the later releases bragged about upgrading the technicolor images frame by frame. Sounds like McCooks held on to one of the re-releases for quite a while. My best memory of McCook's was seeing "The Longest Day" with my uncle who was a WWII vet.

My mother worked at McCooks back in the early 50s. Either the ticket window or the concession stand. Long before it became an adult theater. Always got a raised eyebrow from people who never knew it was a regular theater at one time.

We talk on here about all the old businesses that have long gone. Amazing how that area of town disappeared. Used to head out to Skateland during my jr. high years, visit friends in Parkside which way back was just a nice housing project with nice people living there. It was just an older part of dayton, and safe to be in. Funny how all the good things that were out there just went away but the not so good places managed to hang on. Couldn't believe when out that direction a short time ago that Mccooks bowling alley akn as Mccooks Theatre akn as the Love Boutique today seems to be one of the few places to survive. HUmmmmmm!

Parkside home's.. I was born at 318 marrietta pl.. 1956...I was told by my parent's that you couldnt even hang out your laundry on sunday at that time.. The rules were strict, several police officers families lived in parkside at that time, because they could afford the rent..

On Sundays my Dad and Mom would send me along with my 6 year old Sister and 3 year old Brother to McCooks to see whatever movie was showing. I knew what they were up to even at 10 years old.LOL
