I have searched the internet, youtube ex. but have never been able to find any info regarding the outdoor concert at Eastwood Lake in the summer of '77, Headliners were Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Rick Derringer and a number of groups that were popular at that moment. Still remember the Motor City Madman jumping off his stack of Marshalls. Anyone else out there that went to the show?

Your correct but missed by a year. Areosmith performed at eastwood on 7/31/76 so assume the others may have been there also. In 1975 they were in Ohio for numerous concerts and were at Hara arena . The 70s was a busy year for them.

Thanks LMD, I was dating my wife at the time so it had to be one of those 2 years. Too bad we can't post photos here, if we could I would post a scan of the concert ticket my wife saved. Will have to dig it up but the price was something like $8.50, if that.

Wow! I lived one street over from Harshmanville from 1959 to 1970, but back then Harshamanville was not a very long road. I believe it ended at Fishburg and down near Leston Drive?

It is the long lake on the S side of the big highway heading toward Dayton from the Huffman Dam area.

OK, there, happy? HA HA Yep - been down here too long. Forget the highway numbers up there except 35. All those stupid bypasses weren't there when I lived there.

Before Eastwood Lake and the Hydrobowl, the lake was just American Aggrigates. We used to sneak into the area to fish. There used to be some monsterous size fish in that lake. You could see them swimming along the bank.

Eastwood Park used to be a great place to go. They had a lagoon for canoeing and paddle boats, a swimming pool, several picnic shelters. Vandals did alot of damage in the late 60s early 70s. Metroparks have improved Eastwood alot, as well as the parks at Huffman, Englewood, Taylorsville and Germantown reserves, and Island Park.

I remember seeing aerosmith play at eastwood lake, don't remember the year but I remember it was a hot day in the 90s and they wouldn't let you bring in coolers, you had to empty them in a dumpster at the gate. they had one tent for beer and one for pop. with the hot weather people were dehighdrating and we were allowed to bring in a large water jug that everyone wanted some of. I also remember someone drowning in the lake that day

Sad to say I was at Eastwood Lake that typical Ohio Summer day (1976?). The hot sun was brutal and it is amazing that no one died from heat stroke. Someone did drown in the lake though, and I was in the water trying to cool off when he was pulled ashore. Witnessing that really made me stop and think about making wise choices in life. This was my first and last open air rock concert.

Hey Cushwakid, I was at the Eastwood Lake Summer concert in 76, at Dayton, Ohio. I was stationed at Grissom AFB, Peru Indiana at that time, and me and a buddy drove to Dayton to see one of my favorite jams! The bands that played were as follows: Exile, followed by my all-time greatest guitarist and musician, the late Great Rory Gallagher! I can still remember the song, A MILLION MILES AWAY, also the Drummer Rod d' Ath had a set of yellow-colored drums. My only complaint was he couldn't play any longer then he did, time restraints. This was the first time I had seen Rory and his band! Rick Derringers' band, [DERRINGER] were very good. And then Uncle Ted opened up the show, [curtains closed] with Stranglehold, standing on a stack of Marshalls'! Do you remember when he jumped-off the speakers and slid to the front of the stage! His hair was so long back then, when he bent over backwards, his hair would almost be touching the stage! One other thing about the Motor City Madmen was playing HIBERNATION WITH HIS HEAD ABOUT A FOOT FROM THE MARSHALLS'! EVEN IF HE HAD EAR PLUGS IN, IT WAS SO LOUD, THAT MY BODY WAS VIBRATING FROM THE GROUND, AWESOME. Aerosmith was excellent also, Joey Kramer played a solo with his bare hands. I hope this brought back some memories of this terrific concert! I have been to over a 125 concerts back in the 70s', this one along with the Christmas Concert in Indianapolis, in. 75 were the top 2 ever. The 75 show had Rush, Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult, The original Outlaws, and Mott at the Indiana Convention Center, [which is no longer there]. Take care, and Rock On!!!!! One other thing, I also remember the girls swimming in the lake nude. This concert reminded me of a smaller edition of Woodstock! The only thing I don't know is how many people attended this jam? If you or any body else knows, please let me know!! Respectfully, William

BuckeyeRefugee - the teenager who drowned was a cousin (a third-cousin, I think?) of mine from the Walnut Hills part of Dayton who tried to swim across Eastwood Lake from the other side to get in for free. Never made it. He was a good kid, a little wild like we all were then, but no real trouble. He was about my age, around 17 back then.
