We moved to Miamisburg in 1962 and I lived in the Dayton area until 2006. I have such vivid memories of what a robust town Dayton was. So many great restaurants and place s to go. I especially remember Christmas time being very special back then. I enjoy coming to this site and reminiscing.

Welcome Boatman55. I suspect that is why most of us come here. I grew up in Dayton but now live in Georgia. It is unlikely I will get a chance to move back home, so the History Books Online is a way of coming home and remembering the past. I grew up in Belmont, and then Kettering, and then Beavercreek. Those days were great, and at the time, I didn't realize it. Dayton was one of the cleanest and productive Blue Collar Towns with the likes of NCR, Inland Container, Two Delco Plants, Sheffield Tool & Gage and several other manufacturing plants going strong. Of course there was other industries as well. Christmas was a special time. Who can forget Santa and his Reindeer going up and around the corner on the Rikes Building, and NCR threw a children's party every year at their Auditorium, not to mention the Christmas Tree out front with those huge lights. I believe Delco also had a big party every year at Christmas too. Most Christmases we had snow, or at least close to the 25th. I hope you enjoy your stay here and share more of your memories. There is a ton or reading already posted if you want to catch up and see what subjects have been talked about. Hope to see more of you soon.

My family moved from Miamisburg to Kettering in 1966.Dad worked and retired from GM Morain Plant. Who would have guessed that GM would be gone. It is sadmto pass by it now and see weeds growing up through the parking lots.
