There was a time an ice plant existed that was located right off of Riverview Ave. It was a great place to go, especially in the summer heat. Kids could scrape up shaved ice and cool off. It was a large, one level building with deep bins for freezing water. At times it was a little scary to imagine ever falling into one of the bins. They would then deliver the ice to stores, homes, etc. Keep in mind that many people still had "ice boxes" not electric refrigerators so the ice was a necessity.
