I was so much older then,I'm younger than that now. I was listening to the byrds singing My Back Pages and the tears started running. I know we all have regrets but when you do things at a young age,you live with them and the consequences the rest of your life. I remember from the age of 13 till I signed the enlistment papers just prior to age 17,all I desired was to be a U.S Marine. I achieved this goal. I don't regret serving at all. Not for one second. With hindsight,I truly am sorry for forcing myself to grow up much too quickly. I didn't realize how important ones early years are.We all can't wait to "grow up." Well, for any younger people reading this mess I'm writing, please treasure this time in your life. What you do now will be what you have to think about later. Please don't repeat my mistake of rushing out of your youth as I did.You will NEVER get it back!

I think your having one of many moments that we all have over the years and it happens mostly when an old tune comes along and brings forth a memory, whether they be sad, happy, funny, wonderful, loves lost, failures. Look for the good in today and not over your shoulder with the what ifs. Been there and done that. Oops, seems as though I may be having a Dear Abby moment

I think what Bob Dylan meant when he wrote that lyric was that when you are say, in your mid teens to early twenties you think you know it all, and around 25 it starts to dawn on you that although you know a lot more for sure than you did earlier, there's lots more you don't. Ie: you were 16 going on 40 and then you wound up realizing you were a 25 year old kid

I remember when I was young, I was always wishing. I can't wait til I'm 13, 16, 18, 21. My mom used to say "Don't wish your life away" It will come sooner than you think. Wow! what wisdom. I remember thinking, 50 was so old and it would take forever for me to get that old. Well it happened. I've past 50, my children are grown with families of their own and I find myself telling my grandchildren "Don't wish your life away" Thank you Hunt69 for your service and sacrifice for me and every other American. God bless you and all others who serve our country. I am not from Dayton but I have so enjoyed reading the post on here. It makes me wish I had grown up in the area and it jolts memories of my own hometown.
