CONSTITUTION OF
 
The Dayton Lawn Tennis Club.

ARTICLE 1.
 
               This organization shall be known as “THE DAYTON LAWN TENNIS CLUB.”
 
ARTICLE 2.
 
               The officers shall be “PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT, SECRETARY, TREASURER.”
               The duties of these officers shall be such as usually devolve upon the same officers in similar organizations.
 
ARTICLE 3.
 
               They shall be elected at the annual meeting of the club, held during the second week in July, and shall hold office for the calender year following.
 
ARTICLE 4.
 
               These four officers, together with three other members, elected at the same time, and in the same manner, shall constitute the Executive Committee, who shall make the general rules and regulations by which the members are to be governed, and in whose hands the entire management of the affairs of the club shall be placed.
 
 SEC.2 -- The Executive Committee shall also have power to levy assessments, etc.

SEC.3 -- The President of the club shall be Chairman of the Executive Committee.
 
SEC. 4 -- The meeting of this committee can be called by direction of the Chairman, or at the request of four members.
 
SEC. 5 -- Four members shall constitute a quorum.
 
ARTICLE 5.
 
               There shall be a Tournament Committee consisting of five gentlemen, elected by the club, who shall arrange all local contests and assist as far as practicable in making up sets, so that all players may get their full and fair share of the benefits of the courts.
 
               They shall also have charge of all tournaments held on the grounds.
 
ARTICLE 6.
 
               The club shall select five ladies, who, assisted by the Tournament Committee, shall constitute a Reception Committee. They shall, as individuals, introduce new members, and have entire charge of the reception and entertainment of the guests of the club.
 
ARTICLE 7.
 
               The Executive Committee and seven ladies appointed by them shall constitute the Electoral Committee, whose duty it shall be to pass upon all applications for membership.
 
               Two adverse votes shall exclude.
 
               Boys over sixteen, and girls over fifteen years of age, are eligible for membership.
 
ARTICLE 8.
 
SEC. 1 -- A meeting of the club may be called at three days notice, by direction of the President or on the written request of five members.
 
SEC. 2 -- Twenty-five members shall constitute a quorum.
 
SEC. 3 -- Proxies will not be allowed.
 
ARTICLE 9.
 
               The members of this club shall be divided into two classes, Active and Honorary.
 
ARTICLE 10.
 
               An Active Member is entitled to the use of the grounds, cottage and courts, and to a vote at all meetings of the club.
 
ARTICLE 11.
 
               The number of Active Members shall be limited to two hundred.
 
ARTICLE 12.
 
               An Honorary Member is entitled to the privileges of the grounds and cottage, but is not allowed to use the courts, or to have a voice in the management of the club.
 
ARTICLE 13.
              
               SEC. 1 -- Any person admitted to the club by the Electoral Committee, can become an Active Member by the payment of the initiation fee of ten dollars.
 
               SEC. 2 -- Any person admitted to the club by the Electoral Committee, can become an Honorary Member by the payment of ten dollars, said payment releaving that person however, from all dues, assessments, etc.
 
ARTICLE 14.
 
               SEC. 1 -- The annual dues of this club shall be three dollars, payable on March 1st.
 
               SEC. 2 -- New members are not relieved from the payment of the regular dues.
 
               SEC. 3 -- All assessments, dues, etc., should be paid within thirty days after notification. If they are not paid at the expiration of sixty days, the names of the delinquent members shall be posted on the bulletin board. If they are not paid at the expiration of ninety days, the delinquent member shall be suspended from the privileges of the club until they are paid.
 
ARTICLE 15.
 
               Persons newly elected shall not be considered members until their dues and initiation fees are paid to the Treasurer.
 
ARTICLE 16.
 
               This constitution may be altered or amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any regular meeting of the club.

FIELD RULES
 
I.
               These grounds shall be open only to members of the club and their friends visiting the city.
II.
               The rules governing all games played on these grounds shall be those adopted by the National Lawn Tennis Association.
III.
               Courts numbered from 1 to 7 inclusive, are to be used only by those players wearing tennis shoes without heels.
IV.
               Courts numbered from 8, 9, and 10 can be played on by those wearing shoes with heels.
V.
               When all the courts are occupied, no court can be held for more than one set, if four or more players are waiting; if the set in progress be singles, if two or more are waiting.
VI.
               After 5 P.M. no singles can be played unless at least two courts are unoccupied.
VII.
               These grounds will be closed on Sunday.
               Tennis balls can be obtained from the janitor; Price, 35 cents.
