Two Novellas on the 1913 Dayton Flood By Northmont Middle School Students
“MERCY THROUGH HIGH WATERS”
During the spring of 2007, ten 7th grade students from Northmont Middle School wrote the story, Mercy Through High Waters. Their historical research, creativity, and hard work delivers a riveting and exciting story of survival against the odds during the Great Dayton Flood of 1913. The Dayton Flood of 1913 is the backdrop for a love story that captures the realities of most any youthful infatuations. As the disastrous flood tears through the city, young lives and loves suffer as the result. The authors are five 7th grade students from Northmont Middle School. Their research and creativity make this story a wonderful tale for young adults to read and enjoy. The novella was written during the Spring of 2007.
