64th CONGRESS, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES REPORT
1st Session. No. 66.
SALE OF OLD FEDERAL BUILDING AND SITE AT DAYTON, OHIO.
January 22, 1916.—Committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the state
Of the Union and ordered to be printed
MR. ASHBROOK, from the Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds submitted the following.
REPORT
(To accompany H. R. 322.)
The Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds, to which was referred the Bill (H. R. 322) authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States to sell the old post office and site thereof in the city of Dayton, Ohio, having considered the same, beg to report thereon with the recommendation that the bill do pass.
The purpose of this bill, as stated above, is to give the Secretary of the Treasury authority to sell the old post-office building and site at Dayton, Ohio. This building is of no use whatever to the Government, in view of the fact that a new Federal building has been constructed in the city of Dayton, which provides ample accommodations for all the Federal activities located in that city. The committee therefore believes it best to dispose of the old building in such manner and upon such terms as the Secretary of the Treasury may deem advisable.
The report of the Treasury Department upon this project is as follows:
TREASURY DEPARTMENT,
Washington, January 19, 1916
THE CHAIRMAN COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS,
House of Representatives.
Sir: In response to your request for a report in connection with bill H. R. 322, which authorizes the sale of the old post-office building and site in the city of Dayton, Ohio, you are respectfully advised, in view of the fact that all branches of the government service appear to be amply provided for in the new building at Dayton, Ohio, it is deemed advisable to dispose of the old building and thus avoid the expense of repair and maintenance of the same.
Respectfully, W. G. McAdoo, Secretary.
