All the B25's just flew over my house in Belmont. Very low, less than 1000 feet. The house shook. Awesome sight.

You should watch thevmovie, Catch 22. There are some really great shots and footage of B25's. One in particular was a mission takeoff scene hat was really great. ----------

I was at the AF Museum yesterday and that flyover was awesome. Four of the surviving Raiders attended and there was a nice ceremony for them. The planes are gone now. I think they're in Urbana today.

I was telling my Mother about the bombers flying over on Wednesday and she responded "Oh, but that is what I tried to tell you, remember? When I was little (in 1942?) the squadrons of big planes would just fly over and fly over. Your Grandma would tell us what they were and where they were going but I didn't understand then."
Was Wright-Patt a fuel stop for the planes heading for Europe or were they stationed here for training purposes? Mom said there was a lot of them.

Probably both. Wright Field was also a major flight test base during the war, the Edwards Air Force Base of its day.

If anyone wants to see the flyover of the B-25's, there's plenty of videos on U-Tube.

To "pie8me".....you had commented on the large transport plane that landed on IS 75 in the 60's and the Barrel Factory fire. I was with the OSHP back then and went up to the airplane to help guard it, I was young and do believe that plane knocked a bridge pillar out of whack. Big plane! You usually hear of a Piper Cub landing on a highway, but not a transport plane. I also went to Beavercreek Highschool and my speech class was right next to where that spy plane crashed in the parking lot. In regards to the barrel factory, I witnessed that first hand from our front porch, looked like Vietnam. Enjoyed your posts.

My 7th grade English teacher at Ferguson Jr High had one of the classrooms just adjacent to the impact site of the RB-57 when it crashed at BHS. Several years later, while in her class, the XB-70, escorted by a B-58 and an F-104, flew over Ferguson on its way to the Musuem. All the power of those jets coming in low over the area literally shook the building. The teacher reacted by screaming for all of us to hit the floor, she though it was another crash.

I was walking outside from BHS East Cafeteria when the XB-70 flew over. I immediately looked up from the noise and saw the three jets directly above me, about 3,000 feet AGL (above ground level). That was the most awesome aviation sight I've ever seen. I happened to be crossing the open space where the RB-57 crash occurred.
