Many happy times were had for my sisters and myself when we'd go to the Christmas program and receive our box of candy and coin. Later when I worked at The Cash, I would on ocassion buy a boxed lunch and eat there while taking in a major film which lasted a couple of days in a row. For decades it was also used for many graduation ceremonies. It was shocking to find that it was to be torn down and to look in that area today there are barely any signs left that NCR existed. So much history just done away with and to think that it employed tens of thousands of people over the years.

Yes, it is sad to see NCR gone. Even what was left moved to Atlanta(?) I think. How much fault was mis-management and how much was just technology wiping out the need for mechanical equipment is hard to say. Certainly NCR could have transitioned better. I remember hearing once that there were so many buildings with so many windows at NCR, that the when the window cleaning crew finally finished with the last window, it was time to start all over again and it took almost a year to do them all. NCR was a major industry in Dayton they will be missed.
