My husband and I purchased a property, in what is now Huber Heights, that was once The Country Squire Inn. We learned that the property was originally purchased by William Van Cleve, a founding father of Dayton, in 1815. At the time of his death, he was living on the property in what was then Wayne Township, and was married to his third wife, Eliza Wright, the great aunt to the Wright brothers. I am finding through research that the property has been purchased over the years by many influential people. We are trying to find more information regarding the property and in particular, any photographs that people may have both in its days as a private residence and as a business.

I remember the Country Squire. My aunt and uncle took me there for my 13th birthday. I've been trying to remember where it was. It was like something out of Gone With The Wind, like a plantation. Loved it!

Good heavens, what is the address of this property? I grew up in Huber and I don't even remember it.

The property is on Bellefontaine Road in Huber Heights. People often tell us about the fond memories they had at the Country Squire Inn. Unfortunately, the property sat empty for many years and was ravaged by scrappers, theives and vandals during that time. Our plan is to begin restoring the property in the next year, after my husband retires and we have the time to do so. We would greatly appreciate any photographs and/or information regarding the property whether it pertain to the inside of the building or the outside. My email address is lgw1014@aol.com Thank you!

Being only 13 at the time, I only remember it looked like a plantation, with columns across the front. Sorry I can't be much more help. There was an entranceway that led to a "grand dining room". I may try to take a ride out that way one day. Good luck!

I ate at the Country Squire Inn during the mid 70's before a homecoming dance. The outside was all white, either brick or stucco and the inside was kind of dark with red as the main accent color. It seemed very very old and kinda run down in the 70's. But I remember the food was great!!
