Does anyone know anything about a little restaurant that was located at Stroop and Marshall ...in behind Benidic's (Spelling?) Restaurant ...I believe it was Christy's ...It had the best giant sirloin burger and fries in Kettering ! I dream about them , ever once in a while !... They also had one in a little shopping center in Vandalia , across from the air port....I loved those burgers...I have lived in several states and have not found any to compare to the taste...
Are they still in business ? I heard that they both shut down ?

I remember Christy's very well.I lived on Willamet Rd. from 1965 to 1971 and used to get their broasted chicken at least twice a month. It was the best I ever ate.I also loved the burgers and fries like you! They did shut down after I moved away although I don't know exactly when.

There is still a Christy's in Vandalia but it is on South Dixie across the street from the high school. I haven't been there in years so I can't tell you how the menu compares to the old restaurant across from the airport. I used to love their lasagna.

The only Christes I can remember was a pizza place. There also was close to Stroop and Marshall a pub called the Haufbrau House. Was up a few from where Mama Disalvos restaurant is now. Believe the building is still there.

Its kind of coming to me now. Theres a strip mall of sorts and Theres a Katz on the corner then going around and down are several other small businesses, barber shop and at the end is still a small restaurant. Years ago that place was the Christies and then the owner moved down and around on Wilmington and took over the old Friendlys and made it a small restaurant with great food. Broasted chicken, ribs, sweet potatoes, real mashed potatoes. Was there for years and then eventually closed within the past year and just recently there was an auction there. My family from Columbus never wanted to eat anywhere else except there when in town.Overall good food and another victim of progress and the bad economy.

Luv my dayton - The restaurant you are talking about was called "The Bar-B-Q Hut. The owners were Jimmy and Sharon Morris. They used to work with me at DESC and they did the restaurant as a second endeavor. When they moved from Stroop to Wilmington Pike, Sharon's dad and sister put a restaurant of their own in the old spot on Stroop and Marshall. With the economy like it is, Sharon told me over a year ago that they were struggling to stay afloat because people just weren't eating out like they used to. So I was sad to see them close down recently.

Was saddened myself. Some of the waitresses had been there for years and I went there the last week of business and had lunch. The server had tears in her eyes when talking about the closure. My family in Columbus also drove down to have their last meal there. The place was comfortable and family style with antique toys and signs decorating the place.Have wondered what ever happened to all who worked there for so long.If your missing the broasted chicken there is a place called Melody Inn on Rt 4. Nice sized place and always busy.

The Bar B Q Hut wasn't what I was looking for...It's name was Christy's...at Stroop and Marshall, there was a restaurant called Benidict's...if standing in front of their building....to the left was warehouse paint center...around the corner was Christy's.

I really hate to write something like this, but I think you need to know Bowfoot. The Christy's on S. Dixie in Vandalia is absolutely nothing like the old Christy's. I loved everything at the old Christy's especially their Pizza's, and the Beef Veggie Soup which was a meal in itself. The "New" Christy's food tastes nothing like the old Christy's, and in my book is borderline YUK! I haven't eaten anything from the New Christy's in years, and never intend to again!
