hi riverdale: i think an ice house is where they mainly make ice. they kinda went out with ice boxes. probably many of them went into the pony keg business. i think there is one at north main and siebenthaler.

The 'Pony Keg' at Patterson and Wilmington has no dock or wooden door. It does sell ice and beverages, though.

RR and newsnot - The pony keg or icehouse on Main just south of Siebenthaler closed several years ago. It then became a frozen fish place which also closed. The building is empty now.

The Ivy was a sort of bar/restaurant if I remember right. It may even still be open for all I know. It had ivy climbing up the front of the building. It was next door to the icehouse. ---------- Curt

I think the one on N. Main close to Siebenthaler was called North Riverdale Beer and Ice.

The Ivy Lounge is no longer there. I think it closed about 15 or 20 yrs. ago. They had fantastic cabbage rolls.

THe one you remember is the one I worked at. It was 1970 I think. I was a skinny little kid and could hardly even pick up a case of beer. I think that was b-4 aluminum cans, all bottles (and all returned)
This is the drive up one block down from Sebinthaler. This was not the one with the big dock along the front of building. That was the Ice house/Ivy Lounge
I was also one of the children who had a stay at Shawn Acres. Me and my older brother Jerry.

There is a beer drive through south of Siebenthaler across from Shawn Acres. It's still open. Would that be the one you are refering to?
