As early as 1950, my grandfather, Louis Kroeger, was the service manager at Central Oldsmobile. I know this because he had a new 1950 Olds, purchased there. The other Olds dealer was Penny Oldsmobile, somewhere on near North Main St.
Funny (?) that there were three Chevrolet dealers downtown... Stomps, SWS and White-Allen. The competition must have been furious! Stomps and SWS were really downtown, having to do business out of downtown buildings with no outside lots. Oh, Davis Buick was downtown too, as well as Borcher's Ford and Stenger's Ford. No trips to the 'burbs required. There was another Buick dealer on near-in Salem Ave., name lost in the cobwebs.

Yes, but it had another name before that. It was on the east side of Salem Ave., well before Grand Ave.

Reichard Buick is still in the same location. A few years ago, they bought out Moorman Pontiac on Shoup Mill. Then GM said they were dropping the Pontiac line. If it had another name at one time, it was before 1972 when I moved to Dayton.

Rieckard was originally Shannon Buick The Shannon Bros were big into racing when Dayton was a hotbed of racing in the 50 and 60s They had sprint cars and champ cars Remember Dayton Speedway if you wanteds to race in the Indy 500 you had to get your start at the old Speedway

I am searching for a gentleman who worked at Paddock Pontiac on Main St (I was told it was across from Russ's Market). His name is Richard "Dick" Brewer.
