Anybody ever do any Drag Racing on Rip Rap Road ? Or on I75 from stop eight road before I75 was finished ? I thought so lol. Frank Meyers from Northridge wrote a song called Rip Rap Road that Eddie Raven sang.

strange that you should mention RIP rap rd drag strip tonight i was just thinking about that I was at Jackass Flats on RIP Rap and when I left passed the blue bridge now shut down except for walking across and was thinking of those nights in the 60's where the start finish line was painted on the road

In the late 70s, we used to race on the incomplete I-675 ... I think some environmentalists held it up for a couple of years and it was a perfect straight stretch!

Don't remember Dave Pitman. I played on the same football team with Jim Hammer. Seems to me Jim got killed in the summer of 1966 or 1967 and a Gunsauley was driving the car. I went to Jim's funeral. I was working at the time or I would have been at the levy that night.

I think Barry died a few years ago and I had heard that Dickie was in trouble with the law many years ago, but I know nothing about it. I was a friend of Dickie's brother, Gary.

I am trying to locate a levee (about 66-69 era) but can't seem to find it on Google Earth. It ran along the river somewhere between Siebenthaller and downtown. I believe it had an unpaved road along the top of it. It was South of DeWeese Pky and I would swear you went over a bridge from Riverside, heading toward Frisches on Keowee and the levee was off to your left running north along the east side of the river. It was fairly long and deserted and was great for watching submarine races. Can anyone pinpoint it?

As for the racing, since I was mainly in Kettering, we raced on Feedwire and then on 35 coming in from Beavercreek. Also at the unfinished Greene Co airport out toward Xenia. Anyone remember a silver 66 vette conv with an L-88 and then a wild custom Egyptian painted gold 69 435 vette?

Hunt69: Don't remember Bill Ladd. There was a Gary Ladd in my class, but I haven't heard of him for 40 years and he didn't play football. Seems to me there were several Gunsauleys; Ben, Ray, & Bill. Which one was in the murder/suicide?

Those of us from South Dayton usually mixed it up down on West River Road in Moraine. I drove a red Plymouth Roadrunner. I remember one night about 1971 or so Chris Rulla from my school was hit and badly injured flagging a race. He was a quadroplegic until he died about ten years ago, Really sad...

Why is it off subject? People involved in the topic (racing on Rip Rap or other places) are asking about other people who were involved back then. Street racing and crusing were MAJOR social activities for many of us. I know I spent way too much time at the drive-in restaurants BUT that is where I met and knew everyone. I wasn't into sports - just cars. I enjoy hearing about people from that venue even if I didn't personally know them.

Thanks so much - I have been trying to remember his name. I lived in Beavercreek and Dallas had a gas station across the street from Lofinos and the Knollwood Pharmacy. It was a dark maroon 67? Chevelle. I remember it well. I raced a fancy gold Egyptian painted 69 427 vette in A Pure Stock (I swear it's stock). But one time they decided my slicks were too big for pure stock and threw me into A Stock and I had to race the hemi Challenger of Stepp. BUT I at least got paid for the trip down the track. That was a good place to race. If you want to see some old pics, do a search for Pences raceway. Brings back LOTS of memories.
