Does anyone remember the Tall Timbers restaurant? Where was it located and is it still open? Thanks!

The Tall Timbers burned down over 25 years ago and as far as I know, has never been rebuilt. At least not on the same spot. I looked at Google Earth and the site is still bare of anything except the trees.

Google earth must have a different view than Bing maps. At the address "5785 Old Troy Pike", it shows an abandoned-looking building with "Tall Timbers" painted on the side, as in the above link.

Tall Timbers was a Huber Heights landmark, and several boys I knew in school had part-time jobs washing dishes and busing tables. It was a "supper club", a type of institution which is all-but-dead. It's a crying shame that the cell phone and the internet have usurped the place of the local social institution. People went to places like Tall Timbers not just to dine and be entertained, but to do so with their neighbors. Yesteryear, it was a "howdy" to the family who had a son in your Scout troop but who lived miles away (and perhaps your parents would pick up some intelligence as to what you and your troop-mate had been up to). Today, too many people are connected to everyone on the planet except the guy sittting right beside them, who is ditto lost in the ozone.

Steve Kirk did some very entertaining commercials for the "Tall Timbers." They usually ended with him describing how beautiful the waitresses were...."They all look like Briget Bardot, except for Sharon....she looks like Sophia Loren."

@supersix. Both Bing and Google Earth show the same address, but definitely different pictures. We need someone who lives near bye to do a drive by and see whats up. Too bad I don't have Street view anymore on my IPad. .

Paul H, it looks like the building is there in the street view, but it's hard to tell with all the trees. As you say, the building is gone on Google aerial view. Obviously, Bing maps is the older view.

I think I know where you are referring to. There is a big empty lot next to "Norma Jean's" nails on Troy. It's on the west side of the street just below the Ameristop.

However, a google map of the TT address puts its at the Dollar General. Was this plaza built after Tall Timbers?

I've only been in Huber 3 years, so I don't know everything about it, but I try the best I can.

EDIT: In a google search, it was evidently "razed" in late 2010. I moved here around that. Too bad it was done probably just days before I arrived.
