Anyone have any UFO stories from back in the day? Have thought about writing a book, or at least an article, about Dayton UFO sightings over the years. I kept a scrapbook of UFO sighting news-clippings from the DDN and JH from the mid-60s through the early 70s, Wish I knew whatever became of it, I'm sure there were at least 50-60 articles in it. Would be a great jumping-off point for a book/article.

When I went off to college, I met a girl whose step-dad had been one of the officers who'd worked on "Project Bluebook" at WPAFB. Bluebook was the USAF's official UFO investigation group. She had some interesting stories about him being sent off to some God-awful places to do investigations. She also said a billet in Bluebook was a career ender for USAF types, including her step-dad.

In 1957 or 58 my aunt lived on Merrydale Ave at the dead end off Smithville Rd.She said she went out to hang clothes on the line about 2pm. She said she looked up and saw a hugh disc about 500 foot in the air over where the air force museum is now.She said you could see port holes and even desines on it that you couldn't read. She said everone on the street that was home was out lookinb at it for about twenty minutes. She said she called wright patt and ask if they had anything in the air.She said within 15 mins. a air force guy was in her driveway asking all kind of ?S.hE Told them they never saw anything to forget it.Then in 1985 I was going to Hoagies to get a Pizza.I was at the stop sign at Ashcraft & Wadsworth about 8pm.I looked up and saw lights right over I75 No sound but the thing was shaped like a air craft carrier and as big as a football field.I watched it all the way to Hoagies. It was going real slow toward downtown dayton. When I got to Hoagies and told them they all come outside and we watched it disapear over downtown.Never heard anything on the radio or tv about it.Really strange that no one else saw anything.

Wright Pat has always been a research and developemnt base that we can be proud of. Living in the east end many air craft have been over my home and have also seen things that were amazing. You can be sure all is owned and known to them. As for us, no need to worry as whatever they have developed has protected us at some point and will be there for us in the future. Wright Pat is a base we can all be proud of.

Yes, saw a "UFO" as did many of us, even our parents, back in the late 60's/early 70's one summer evening hovering very shortly over an area in Kettering Ohio, near Aerial Lane. We were visiting some relatives who lived there but we lived in Huber Heights. Of course, UFO does NOT mean these "craft" are from "outer space" and I happen to know, none of them are...all that crap the public has seen has been made right here on planet earth by EARTHLINGS!

And let me add to this, not to toot my own horn or anybody else's but, my dad and his brother were very military and exclusive to the base as were many of the people I came to know. There were "secret" things that some of us were NOT suppose to know about shouldn't act like we know about and not equpped to know about, or talk about...I was kind of okay with that except, I Loved Project Blue Book...LOL
So then, I started writing stories and my true fascination was with unsolved crime...LOL
So there you have it, in a nutshell...half crazy!

I remember in 1973 or 74 living in Xenia and lots of folks out in the street staring at the sky at a cigar shaped red lighted object. I was only 9 and not really impressed since we were so close to Wright-Pat.
