I use to live on brandt pike in Dayton, Ohio in the late 50's early 60's. My brother and I went to school at Wright Patterson Air Force Base back then. I remember the the class rooms were connected straight back room to room just like a barrack would be.

Can anyone out there tell me where I can find any information on this. I have on idea where to go or whom to talk to about this. I was in the 4th or 5th grade at the time. I am 66 years old now. So, you can see how many years its been, so don't faint. haha. Thanks to anyone out there who can give me any assistance. Feel free to email be at brenda@voyager.net. Thanks
Calhoun

brendak-

WPAFB has a history office, that might be a good place to start. The WPAFB website doesn't give an e-mail address for the history office, but does give a phone number (937-255-2064).

I started 3rd grade at the old Wagner two room school house across Harshman road from the main school. We spent only a few weeks there, and then we were moved to a classroom on base just as you described. We entered the base through gate 19A off Rt 444. I will be 66 last day of May, so that would have been about 1955 or so. The next year, the 4th grade, was at the Harshman Elementary School across Harshman road from the then named Mad River High School, being built. It was renamed W. E. Stebbins HS. Hope that helps. BTW. I grew up in the Drive In Trailer Park on Valley St.

Hey Paul - did you graduate from Stebbins or move away before that?
I have a few old friends that graduated about that time (1965) from Stebbins.

I graduated with Class of 65. Even though I moved away shortly after, it seems like I always manage to get back every now and then.

Paul, if you have the time, I'm looking for a Ed (Edward?) Flannery who graduated Stebbins somewhere around that time. He is about our age or very close. I worked with him for many years in Ft Myers. I lost track of him and wondered if he might be in the Stebbins Alumni somewhere.

Ed "Elmo" Flannery graduated Stebbins in 1963 and lives in FL. He was at his 50 year class reunion just last September. I and my sister attended the Base School in the 1954-55 year, which is when my family moved into Mad River Twp. My teacher, then, was Miss Crawford. Later, she taught at Page Manor #1 as Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Drexler was the teacher in the next room at the Base School.

I just joined this site...I attended the Base Elementary School in 1963 (second grade). My teacher's name was Mrs. Cox. I still have my class
picture. As I recall, the school was a beat-up looking barracks type building. My dad was a fighter pilot, we lived at Wright Patterson from 1962-1965.
