Years ago there was a small market on Fifth st at Linden that was run by brothers by the name of Zappe. Names were John and Fred. Mom would call, place her order and by the time she got to them it was ready to be put in the trunk and we'd head for home. Really nice family and John and Pauline had 3 daughters and lived on Center st. My mother must have gone to school with maybe his wife as know they were life long friends. Just as life goes the kids grew and people moved and lost touch but have a lot of good memories. If anyone remembers this family and the market please add to this thread.

lmd I didnt know about the market at Fifth & Linden but I knew Fred very well he ran a wholesale restaurant and grocery supply on Xenia Ave. He was one of the nicest men I ever met.And heres a little bit of info most people didn't know about Fred, he loved slow pitch softball. On Sunday there was a group of some of the best players in Dayton and Ohio.who would go to a ball field at Orville Wright on Huffman Ave. We would choose up sides and play most of the afternoon. Fred was quite a bit older than we were. I would guess Fred was close to 60 years old but he held his own with us young guys. There wasnt a finer man than Fred Zappe. Thanks for bringing back a "GREAT MEMORY"
