One sunny spring day in 1949, four of us seniors at Miamisburg High School skipped school and drove to Dayton to see the movie and the Louis Prima stage band.

The band was outstanding, but what I remember most is Prima's
hilarious antics.

We say the feature movie, too, but I don't remember what that was.

I just wish I could remember the name of the theater. It may have been on Fifth Street, and it may have been Lowes.

I know the RKO Keiths on 4th. St. brought entertainment in sometimes. How I know this is because when I was about 10 yrs. old my sisters and myself went to the Keiths to see Jackie Gleason and the Honeymooners live on stage. "GREAT MEMORIES"

The RKO State was the same block as the Mayfair except on 4th Street instead of 5th.

As a teenager in the late 40's, my friends and I attended a great many stage shows at both the Colonial Theatre at the NW corner of Fifth and Ludlow and the RKO Keiths at the SE corner of Fourth and Ludlow. The stage shows always featured the popular bands and singers of the time. I especially remember seeing Dick Haymes at one, and Shirley Temple at RKO Lowes on Main Street. She was here for the movie "Since You Went Away" What a thrill for me to get her autograph (which has since been lost to the ages).

When I was in high school, taking your date to Lowes or Keiths, then hitting Parkmoor, Hasty Tasty, or Country Kitchen for a burger and a Coke was living large!
