Does anyone remember the Blackburn name being someone in the Dayton area that was celebrity-like?
The Bengals owner Mike Brown's daughter's name is Katie Blackburn.
For some reason that name rings a bell from the Dayton area.
Maybe a newscaster or something thereof??
Anyone??

Tom Blackburn was the coach for the UD Basketball team for many years. I think in the 50's and 60's. They had some really great teams when he was the coach there.

My dad was in charge of the city golf courses in the 50's and 60's. In the summer I would go with him to pick up the receipts from the day's or week. One of the courses he collected was Madden Golf Course On Nicholas Rd.. Tom was the pro there and he ran the pro shop. So at least once a week I would go with dad and would get to talk to and see Mr. Blackburn. That was pretty exciting. Like others have said he was a great coach and was highly regarded in the country. Oh and he was just an average golfer and a nice man.
