They had a place on Wilmington for years and we went there all the time as they had excellent food. Nothing fancy but alot of food for your money. Got carry out. They moved out and set up at Lincoln Park but lost me for a customer as driving distance doubled. Now it looks like they are no longer there either and a place called the Tropics is there. Does anyone remember Norton's and any idea where they are now?

After Nortons closed, like you said The Tropics moved in and after they had a blowup with the city of Kettering, they have since closed as well. As far as I know Nortons is just no longer around at all. They should of stayed over there on Wilmington Pk where they did a pretty good business.

Freedom you are correct. Imagine their overhead increased but not their business.. Am sure they knew right away it wasn't a smart decision. Too bad as never got anything there I didn't like. Kettering might have gotton a bit too greedy with the rent as with Fraze Pavilion close they had a good customer base for part of the year anyway. A lot of decent places to eat have come and gone from there.

Calhoun Thanks for jogging my memory as had forgotten where Godfathers had been. They disappeared way back but now have a place out on Wilmington pike across the parking lot of Cracker Barrel. Those pizzas were awesome but can't afford them now.

The people who owned Norton's on Wilmington divorced prior to moving out to Lincoln Park and Norton's becoming the Pavilion Grille. When that went belly up. The owner opened a new bar called Dog's Breath Tavern on Whipp Rd in the former Banda Bing Lounge. The person who actually holds the license is his girlfriend. I had some complicated (and costly) dealings with the then owner. How the place is doing now. I couldn't tell you how the new place is doing or what his level of involvement is. I won't name him either. We parted ways unpleasantly a couple years ago.

How many of you people that are posting here remember that former Nortons on Wilmington being a Mr. STEAK restaurant before being taken over by Godfathers and then by Nortons. They were the original builders for that property. Was a really nice place to go and have a good meal.

Freedom years ago we had many places to eat and affordable as back then was younger and living on a budget. Eating out was restaurant on week ends and fast food or cafeteria during the week. You didn't have to leave Kettering for a weekend dinner as they had dozens of places along with several theatres. Had forgotten Mr Steak but am sure we ate there at least once. By the way remember Cadillac Jacks and the little building they had? Its amazing how Cadillac grew and have been to the one south of town many times.Original little building still there and next to it was an actual restaurant. Can't think of the name of it but has always been a restaurant and next to Arbys.

Yeah that place your talking about that was between the old Blairs lounge and the Arby's has been many places over the years even being a Casanos at one time. As to the original owner, that escapes me but I can picure that they had torch lights on poles that surrounded their property. The name Arlows comes to mind but not sure about that at all.. Thats going back a ways. Good question though.. I do remember Arby's being a Roy Rogers when it first opened though..

Anyone interested you can search Restaurants in Kettering/1960s. Really good information and found name of place down by Blair's. It was called Savory. They mentioned also Vitos on Dorothy On. I remember also a place on Dorothy lane called Black Knight and a place called Keng Wah where Penn Station is now. You didn't have to go far for an evening out.
