Do an internet search. I found a site or near site some time ago, possibly in Ancestry, that had to do with Sucher's.

I remember years ago of Sucher Park at the end of Hoover Ave. at Western Ave. I believe it was a baseball field and maybe the site of some professional wrestling!

We lived on Edison in the early 60s. We were downwind of Sucher's, lol. Very pungent. And when they were going full steam, you could fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of livestock bellowing and squealing, night and day.

My uncle worked there. I used to go with him on Saturdays when he just had to check a few things. It was a nasty smelling place. He told us some stories about his job that curled our toes.

In 1958 and 1959 I worked as a Federal veterinary meat inspector at Suchers. It was owned I believe by Bermans. The hog floor was pretty bad as the dehiring vat was in the same room as the rest of the operation. I believe they started a new hog facility in 1959 but it lasted only a short time before they closed the plant. Another federal plant at the time was was Folkies. It was family owned and really did a quite nice job.
