When it got really cold back in the 60's the lagoon at Island Park would freeze and we were able skate on it as far ad the low dam. I have great memories of those days. The city would put up lights and there would be hot chocolate, benches to sit on and tie up your skates and the best of all there was always a bon fire to keep warm by. Box 21 was close by and they would flood the ice in the evening so we had good ice the next day. Those were the days that are now gone but the memories can never be taken away.

Dayton still provides but at a safer location. Believe Riverscape has a smaller area but people still go. There are so many offerings there and hopefully the economy gets back up again and folks start going back. Do know many events took a hit this year and lost money. I do remember years ago all the events that did take place out at Island Park and one was a fireworks display.
