Does anyone know where to find out the history, past residents and other facts about older homes and buildings in Dayton?

Obviously this site but for specific homes/bldgs I would recommended the Reibold bldg. Also you can find a lot of information from historic districts web site - St Annes Oregon Distric, Huffman Historic.

If you have an Ohio public library card, you can examine the Sanborn Fire Insurance maps at

http://www.oplin.org/databases/ .

Search by street name and the word Dayton. Then browse until you find the right house number range.


The Dayton Metro Library has Dayton City Directories which have criss-cross capacity back to 1914 in which you can find the resident at a particular address.

For recent land transfers you can try the Montgomery County Treasurer's site:
