After the Diamond Club closed, it became a restaurant by the name of Yesterdays. After they closed, another bar opened called Diamond Lils. I was told the lady who owned Diamond Lils also owned the Diamond Club but I'm not sure how true that is. Then it became an AMVETS post. After they moved, the building was torn down and a business is there now. Sorry I don't know the name of the business as it's been years since I was out that way.

Green Lyte Sunday was more or less the house band at the Diamond Club for a year or two... used to hang out with them quite a bit... we always went to Dixie Donuts afterwards.

Find car guys on 60's 70s site. They looooved the Diamond Club.

Guys I went to school with were shocked that we girls knew about the "dumb" Diamond Club... Just post, HEY CAR GUYS!! then they will know you want to talk hot rods, girls, or Frisch's, Parkmoor, or Kilkare raceway or THE DIAMOND CLUB.... ~Cindi

I never made it to the Diamond Club, but remember their radio adverts, specifically for when Wayne Cochran & The C.C. Riders played there. Years later, I found out that bassist Jaco Pastorius (of Weather Report fame) played at the Diamond Club when he was in Wayne's band.

My main memory of the Diamond Club is being there early in the evening, coming out of the men's room and seeing a guy standing there who looked JUST like Fats Domino and telling him so, and hearing him say, "I AM Fats Domino." When I asked him what he was doing there he laughed and said he was playing there that night. He was a real friendly guy.

Glad to hear someone remembers Green Lyte Sunday. They were a great band and I loved their lead singer, Susan Darby. I had the pleasure of going to high school with her at Fairmont West, although the pleasure would have been much greater if I would have actually known her at the time! Regardless, she was a magnificent talent and I wonder whatever became of her. I remember Green Lyte Sunday performing at a jazzed up night clubbish Cassanos Pizza on North Main. Yeah, I know, that sounds pretty weird, but its true. Cassanos was experimenting or something. They had a stage, the whole bit.

Hankster65...I think the Cassanos on Main was called Tyrolean Village. I am not positive, but maybe someone out there can confirm that. I went to Trotwood and we had one of our after-proms there.

I played there for 2 years in a band called "The Magnificent 7." Some of the members were Phil Mehaffey on organ, Vic Olekas on guitar, Vince DiSalvo on drums, Marvin Smith lead vocals, and I played bass. We had horns and did Blood Sweat and Tears type of music.

My understanding is the owner allowed her son to convert the Diamond Club into Yesterdays. It was nicely remodeled into to an upscale Disco (Travolta would really have been at home there). They served a pretty decent steak as I recall.

The place caught fire (suspiciously) and was closed. Mom reopened it as Diamond Lil's.

Yesterdays specialty was Prime Rib. Their motto was "Home Of The Butter Knife Prime." I had the prime rib there and it was very good.

My aunt, Jennie Krynzel owned the Diamond Club and my father, Julian Kielbaso built the building. Jennie is still alive, in her 90's and living near Las Vegas.
Her son, Danny was the manager for the Van Dells for years, not sure if he still has that "claim to fame"..one of my favorite things about the club was a "chute" that was built to send the glass bottles from the bar into a trash bin in the basement. Always fun to be at the bottom of the chute to see the bottles come flying out. Some of the best bands around in the 60's played there from Paul Revere and the Raiders to Big J Bush and the House Rockers. The Dayton Corvette Club held their meetings at the club which always made for a great looking parking lot! My grandparents, Jennie's parents, also owned a little neighborhood bar closer to town on Troy Street that was torn down to allow for Route 4 to be built. I guess we have "bar's" in our family blood line but so far I am only able to "frequent" them instead of being the owner....darn!

I forgot about our Greater Dayton Corvette Club having meetings there. I DO know that the guys at the door always let me park my custom painted 69 gold vette right outside the front door and kept an eye on it for me.

There's a great scrap of an interview with Little Richard I heard him tell or read years ago. He was on tour and getting frustrated with a new guitarist. While rehearsing at the Diamond Club he finally turned to the guy and said, "You're playing all of this like THEN. Play it like NOW!" Whereupon the guitarist cut loose with NOW in a rather big way. His name was Jimi Hendrix.

Used to go to the Diamond club was one of my favorite places from 67to around 1970.Of course there were other places for young people to go to such as the LT club in Huber Heights, the Tempest Club on Linden Ave.

Later on when it became the restaurant Yesterdays and all it did was lead to sad memories.

Around 61 and after graduation we were now old enough to hit the clubs and drink 3.2 beer and the Diamond club was one of the favorites along with Rendevoux club out on Salem ave who had a band with H Bomb Ferguson. Had major fun at both places. Streets were safe then. Not sure that kids today have many options for having a good time and staying safe.

There are no places for young people. I think it was a real mistake taking away the ability to drink 3.2 beer. It is teaching us responsibility as we grow older.
