Can someone verify if they tore down Shawen Acres about a week ago? If so, I'd like to know a little bit about the details.

I drove by there Saturday night. It was dark, but I think all of the buildings have been demolished. They were taking out various parts a week or two ago, hazardous materials, I would guess. The end of an era in my old neighborhood.

Shawen Acres was where I grew up,I guess I was about 3 or 4,all though the 50's,I remember after being transferred to a regular cottage with all these kids everywhere having fun,I was just in an amazed state of mind and I still have that memory,how sad to know it is all gone.

WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE ALL THE TROPHYS WENT THAT WERE IN THE MAIN BUILDING. ITS KIND OF FUNNY BUT I HAD MY NAME ON A TROPHY THAT WAS CALLED THE TAPE TROPHY. IT WAS FOR THE FOOTBALL TEAM. I GUESS IT WAS GIVEN TO THE PLAYER WHO WAS INJURED THE MOST, AND THATS JUST A GUESS. I REMBER GETTING MY BELL RUNG IN A GAME AGAINST LINCOLN HEIGHTS FROM CINCINNATI. IT WAS A HOME GAME AND WHEN NI CAME OUT THEY ASKED ME SOME QUESTIONS AND I DONT THINK I ANSWERED CORRECTLY SO THEY SENT ME UP TO THE HOSPITAL. THE NURSE HAD ME LAY DOWN FOR A WHILE AND WHEN SHE CAME BACK A LITTLE LATER SHE ASKED HOW I FELT,AND IGUESS SHE SAID I COULD GO BACK. WENT BACK AND PLAYED MOST OF THE REST OF THE GAME. THEY DIDNT KNOW MUCH ABOUT CONCUSSIONS BACK THEN. MAYBE THATS WHATS WRONG WITH ME. HA! HA!

MIKE ITS MARKS IVE KNOWN DONNY FOR ABOUT 45 YRS. IMET TOU AT THE JUNK YARD ABOUT 8 OR 9 YEARS AGO. I HAD CAR USED CAR LOT.

My brothers and I were in Shawen Acres a couple different times, the last time was probably early 70's. I was in the main building. They were in the cottages but not sure which one. They are Joe, Mike and Rick Curl. Don't remember a lot but I do remember being locked in the dorm bed rooms at night and scared to death! Remember a few people.

You were in Cottage 11 and believe me, nobody liked being in cottage 11: the reception cottage, top of the stairs, above the hospital.
