First and without intending to start a holy war, Angelo's was nice, but NEVER as popular as the Frisch's located at the Dixie/Kettering Blvd/Springboro intersection.

We W.C. kids always cruised Angelo's when Frisch's was quiet or had called the cops to chase us off the property. Angelo's lot was tiny, tiny, tiny and cruising was more of a state of mind than an actual physical activity. Angelo's was located in the now mythical "Moraine City" NOT the same as the City of Moraine. My first encounter was one evening in 1956, after our W.C. science club had been to Lowes Theater in downtown Dayton to see "Forbidden Planet." We stopped there for a sandwich and Coke.

Angelo's closed about the time that I left W.C. for college (1960) and remained closed for nearly thirty years. All of the fixtures were there, just like it was ready to open the next day. Someone must have paid the taxes, as it remained completely untouched. Odd too, as it was directly across from the Frigidaire plant and a good place for a quick lunch or dinner.

The Potts family (Bob and Ramona) of West Carrollton re-opened it in the nineties as a family restaurant with table service of dinners and sandwiches. They offered a blue-plate special every day. It seemed quite successful. We drove there from Oakwood at least once a week for dinner. I just can't believe that as I sit here remembering almost everything about the place that I can't remember the name when the Potts owned it! After we moved to Gatlinburg in 1998, I lost track of it, but I did notice on visits to town that it was once again closed.

Prior to the restaurant, Bob Potts was a realtor in the W.C. area - I think that the whole family had pitched in to buy the place.

Frisch's ...let me tell you about that Frisch's !!! My wife's sister was a car hop there and dated Martin Sheen the actor .... before he was a known actor in the early 60's. Then the think I remember about Angelo's the most is Jim Skonzakes driving thru there in the Golden Sahara Custom car. And also with the Kookie Hot Rod from 77 Sunset Strip. Also Salt Walther used to come in a T Bucket Roadster he had.Great time back then Mikey.

Was Angelo's the pizza place? If so, they had good pizza. Their sausage was so loaded with garlic and I loved it. If we had leftovers, you would open the frig the next day and all you could smell was garlic.

Iam confused. Was angelos the drive in or a different place.Angelinos was a different place maybe.I think a guy named hienz owned it and a truck stop near Lewisburg. It closed the Moraine drive in around the 70s or 80s.

Sharon35 & olds88 Angelos was a restaurant just up the street to the south from Angelinas Pizza. My father owned Angelinas from 1970 to 1974 when I took it over. The owner of Angelo's name was Angelo Hilarious. He owned a truck stop on Rte. 40 and its name was Heinz Truck stop. I practically lived at angelos from 61 to 66 when it was closed down after a friend of mine named Donny Barnes was killed by a guy from Miamisburg. But to get back to you Sharon our sausage was a key ingredient on our pizzas and we made our sausage sandwiches out of the same sausage. And you are absolutely right about the garlic. It rivaled the garlic salad from Dominic's. If you ate either one it stayed with you for days but they both were fantastic.
