Does anyone else remember going to Houser's at Spin-Kemp Shopping Center? I was trying to figure out when they closed ... had a great soda fountain and was the place to buy candy and baseball cards. Great memories!

Jeff, I would have been too young to go there with friends,(we lived at the Linden Ave end off Spinning) but while going through some of my mother's effects a few years ago, I found a label of some sort from Housers. Brought back some memories when you mentioned it!

I loved Throckmortons - seemed very high tech around 1960.

Such wonderful memories of old Spin-Kemp. It's all but gone now..even Rick's Pizza closed last year. It had been a staple for over 40 years

I've always wondered about that place. Isn't that where the old Church's Chicken used to be? Calhoun, are you still in the neighborhood? I grew up on Spinning!

On most days, I wish I were still there. I really miss it. I always wondered if someone would just level Spin-Kemp and start over. I know the dance studio and bar have been there an awfully long time.

Houser's Pharmacy! Mr.Houser and my father-in-law were classmates in college. Mr. Houser is still in the area, I believe, in the retired mode. What I remember is when there was a big fire in the Spin-Kemp shopping center. It was in Throckmorton's, I think. That was my first big fire as a Mad River fireman back in the late 1960s.
