Riverside dr. is a shortcut for me when heading to 48. Couldn't believe that the area heading to Shoop Mill where several large complexs used to be are still there but almost totally empty. Its terrible to see what used to be a nice area is now deteriorated this badly. The Forest Park Plaza has been vacated and sitting empty for years and it used to be like Town and Country in Kettering. Same with many areas of Dayton. Hopefully we don't become another Pittsburg or Detroit to name a few. Also doesn't seem like we have much say so on the direction were going.

Talk about sad.The elected and non elected officals that are playing with our tax money have been slowly spreading hud housing around the suburbs and laughing about the results.Look at your police logs for your area and tell me its about fairness.

Every city has had to deal with the problems they bring. Yes, police logs are full and the police dept busy. School systems have also felt the crunch and it happened so fast the school systems have had a hard time adjusting to the changes it brought.

I used to drive that way alot as we lived in Meadowdale. Forest park shoping center as such a fun place during the 70's. Scherers ice cream after a day shopping with mom, or Frischs. We would occasionly go in the pool hall there in the early 80's but there was always kinda rough crowd in there. We saw Steppenwolf at the She, I think I was still in HS. lol You car guys will appreciate this was there was a lime green Dodge Super bird in the parking lot of those apts on Riverside. It seemed to sit there forever and was in disrepair.

Many moons ago there was an amusment park there and was called Frankies park. As a kid and before tv, many nights after dinner we'd go for a ride to see a few sights. Dayton also had numerous fun billboards to see. We'd make a stop at Scherers before heading home. There also was a small skating rink I believe around the corner of Nottingham and Main. Also ate at the Frisches on the corner and know it was still there in the 90's as was Scherers..

The skating rink on Nottingham was torn down and a church is on the site. The Friches(sp) building had at least two food places there and now it's a cash advance place. Scherers building is now a beauty parlor.

I lived in the Colony apts at Forest Park Plaza in the 70's. A hairstylist was murdered who lived in the complex, and my roommate came home and found a man in our apartment. We moved out real quick.

The skating rink on Nottingham was the Dayton Roller Drome. It was also called Naggy's for a time.I spent many hours skating there in the mid to late 50's.My best friend's mother taught skating classes there so we always got in free. Her name was Phyllis Jackson and she was a semi-pro skater when there used to be such a thing.
