I saw a dialog somewhere here mentioning that Royal Crest Dairy was Hopalong Cassidy's favorite. I remember back in the 50s while driving with my father as he drove an Advance Laundry Truck (located on Xenia Ave just off Wayne Avenue). We were way out on Salem Avenue where the Royal Crest Dairy was and Hopalong Cassidy was making a personal appearance. I was quite excited about seeing him.

I was in a parade for Hopalong Cassidy sometime in the 50s. I think it went down Third St, I seem to remember the library. I was in Bluebirds (younger Camp Fire Girls as it was known then, probably about 7 years old so it would have been about 1955. I was very upset because I never SAW Hopalong Cassidy even though I was in his parade.

My father was a keen fan of Westerns and when Hopalong Cassidy appeared at Royal Crest Dairy, he took us down to meet him and buy an ice cream. We met him, my Dad bought us ice cream and everyone was happy until we were leaving and all I can remember was that the door close on my cone. I was around 3 or 4 at the time and I remember loads of tears and my Dad wasn't happy because he had to buy me a new cone, which he did.

I remember the Royal Crest milk trucks having a picture of Hopalong Cassidy, with the caption, "Hoppy's Milk", under his picture. I miss those old milk trucks, and the milk chests on the front porch.
