Can anyone tell me about this place? Exactly where it sat, what years it was open, what it was like etc.

BBC was a national chain, I think they grew out of another failed chain that went belly-up in the 90s. I think the BBC in Dayton was on N. Dixie, near the traffic circle. Don't remember eating at the local BBC, but did eat at several around the country while traveling on business.

As I remember, the places were kinda glitzy, with mediocre food. Lots of props on the walls, and those big, slow moving ceiling fans you'd see in old movies. My impression was they were more popular for their bars more so than their food. The term "meat market" might be a bit much, but I remember meeting some very attractive and accomodating women at the BBCs I visited. Also recall they hired stunningly pretty waitresses, especially in their southern CA locations.

Vaguely remember going there a time or two. Seemed like a nice place. Back then there were more than enough places to eat and you had to make an attempt to hit each one at least once. Most have gone by the wayside.

The BBC in Dayton was on Dixie where Seibenthaler dead ends into it. Like Calhoun said, right around where the traffic circle was. BBC is gone and so is the traffic circle. Of the two, I DON'T miss the traffic circle!

Trying to picture it. Was there a Denney's there too? Is the BBC Building still there?

There was a Bombay Bicycle Club in Alexandria for a while. The food was blah and was sold mainly to satisfy the food sales requirements for an ABC mixed-beverage license. The place mainly catered to the dumb-as-doorknobs "singles" crowd. You know, "Hey baby, what's your sign?"

BBC was not NCR. Dayton "losing" the BBC is like having a tornado hit the slums and do several million dollars in improvements.

The BBC on N. Dixie was originally Smuggler's Inn in the late 1970s. I don't think anything was there before that.

I dined at the BBC a lot when I was growing up. Luckily I was too young to have noticed the singles crowd.

There were only two menu items I would order, and they were always delicious.

One was the Monte Cristo sandwich. It was a ham, turkey, and cheese sandwich dipped in batter and deep fried. They would dust it with powdered sugar and serve it with a side of strawberry jam for dipping. Soooo Good!!!

I would also order the yaki soba with vegetables. I'm not sure how authentic their recipe was, because whenever I order this dish in a Japanese restaurant, it's never quite the same. BBC's had a sweet/savory sauce on the noodles with fresh, steamed vegetables.

I have many fond memories of dining at the BBC with my dad, drinking iced tea with equal mixed in (it would dissolve better than sugar and tasted really good with BBC tea).

OK, Dayton History... Where's the time machine??? I want to go back!!!
