Seems like the summer is nearing its end but have so many great memories of the Labor Day weekend and the wonderful day that was planned to keep folks at home.My family lived on the parade route and would take our children there for many years. At Lincoln Park there is a car show, arts and crafts, food, music and to end the day there will be fireworks at Delco Park.Another great event is the Mont. Co. Fair and from the news its better than previous years.Am sure there are other activities in the area if you need something to do. All in all just have a safe fun weekend and will see you all on here next week.

They USE to air the Holiday at Home parade on the tv, but no more. The parade was gotten much smaller too over the years and less people seem to attend than use to.

The parade used to be broadcast on channel 7 at 10:00 am every year. They still have it on tv, but its on one of those cable access channels that air the local stuff around town.

I believe the first Holiday At Home was 1959. The finale was a show at Fairmont Stadium, featuring a group called "The Browns", who sang songs like, "Three Bells". I believe there were fireworks that followed that show. The fireworks were staged at the grounds by the then-new Fairmont High School.

Was on Stewart st today and noticed at the corner of Main where the fairgrounds is a notice advertising the county fair for this year. Thought that was no longer going to be held locally. Probably will make the big move in a year or two. Anyone have the scoop?

LMD, It was just on the channel 7 news, that the fair will be held at its current location for at least the next 2 years.
