Colonel White was named after Major Joseph P. Black. Joking, sorry, it was named after Colonel White who I think was a civil war soldier/hero, I attended Colonel White 56-57, 9th grade, It could have been 57/58 so I am not sure. Afterwards I ran away and the next time I went to a school was in the Eighties for an astronomy course which I passed. Our teacher Bill Anderson head of the science department was strict, our tests were essay style and we were not given true or false or multiple choice answers, had to be written long hand.

The first year I attended Colonel White was the year when Colonel White went to high school status and we students picked the school colors and mascot by vote.

There is a Colonel White Teachers and Alumni group on Face Book and they know more about the Colonel than I do for sure. If you need a link, let me know.

Colonel William Jeremiah white was a civil war captain but have no idea why he was picked for the name of school. According to the archives Mr Jeremiah was the superintendent in 1888. Guess that's how they came to naming a school in his honor.

Not only is the school gone, the name is also. The new school on Hoover is named Thurgood Marshall. My three kids graduated from Col. White.

Since Roth has been gone for so long, I can't remember where it was located.
