This topic may have been discussed way back but with all the new posters maybe it will start taking us back to memory lane in a different way.Seemed like no matter where you lived you ended up out on Stanley and Keowee to go skating.Cars full of kids were being dropped off by parents and back then the girls, including myself and friends had skating costumes and for a couple of hours would have alot of fun and meet kids from other schools.Great exercise if I remember correctly. Have no idea when the place closed but my memories were from the 50's and 60's. Anyone on here remember Skateland?

I don't remember that one but there was a skating rink at Helena and Stanley. Is this the one you're thinking of?

luv my dayton If I'm thinking right you did mean the roller skating rink. I remember it well. We lived on Washington St. and we would stay until they closed and would walk downtown to Third & Main Sts. to catch the bus. If we didnt get there by a little after midnight the buses would leave and they were the last ones to run. They called it the twelve o'clock line up I think.

Joey yes it was a skating rink.Tried ice skating and never could stay on feet as ankles too weak.Am surprised I stayed upright on roller skates. Still had fun and wish I could give it a whirl today but am smart enough to know better. Love taking my grand children though and watching them at Skateworld in Kettering.
