This is for all the people that might remember the 1950's. Probably around 1952-55.

Probably around 52- was probably about 4-7 year old but remember my parents taking me several times to a nice restaurant in Downtown Dayton. All I can remember is that as you walked in, there was a large black fountain with a pool around the bottom that had gold fish in it. Not much to go on but any ideas??

Yeah I definitely remember Suttmillers and Anticoles on Salem. We ate at both places for special occasions. My favorite was and still is Big Boy.

How about The Gold Coin on Main St. or one of my favorites The Morgan House or The Yum Yum. And here's one that will test your memory Lous Dude Ranch it was located where the current Frisch's in Moraine City is.

Suttmillers had big name entertainment. Back in the 70's the wife and I saw Lou Rawls there.

There is a Frisch's on Wilmington Pike just north of Dorothy Lane. It relocated from Woodman Drive a few years ago. I just ate there last week.

Suttmillers would park your car for you. My Dad had a '68 Mercedes (no big deal back then), and starting the car was about 10 steps. The guys would always run back, "And then which switch do you flip? And then pull what knob?"

As far as a black fountain, the only fountain I remember was at Vito's, which to my memory was on E. Dorothy in Kettering, about where Krispy Kreme is now. Please correct me if my location is not right.

My parents used to eat at Longo's on Third Street. I'm not sure what years those were...pretty sure the 40s and into the 50s.

Ate numerous times at Vitos and it was a loss for many when it closed. Also remember well Longos and also remember Henrici which was very upscale. Of them all I miss Vitos the most.
