Just learned today that Beerman family no longer has them but thought someone else picked them up. Does anyone have info on this?

Presumably you can call Channel 22, but otherwise:

Sorry, I can't get it to connect (I guess because it's a cached page) but if you paste the web address in your address bar you'll get the page.

For the longest time, the dinner that the Beerman family put on was held at Hara Arena. I was a member of Trotwood Rescue and the Beerman family would make a donation to the squad. In exchange we would bring a medic and a crew of two or three. Hang out just in case anything happened. Nothing ever did the years that I went as part of the crew. They always offered us a plate of food. Most of us generally we had dinner waiting on us with our families a little later. A little arm twisting and I would always take a piece of pumpkin pie! It was quite the event and I looked forward to it every year. Haven't been to it since it moved to the Convention Center and the Beerman family is no longer involved with it.

I moved to Maine in 1983, and immediately became involved in our parish adult organization. Because of my awareness of the Beerman family's Turkey dinner at Hara, I suggested to the adult club that we attempt to do a similar event, on a much smaller scale. In order to accomplish this task, we threw the invitation out to evey church in town, regardless of affiliation.

Due to the timing of our first meeting, we felt it was not feasible to pull off such a dinner at Thanksgiving time, but felt it would work well in early spring.

This coming March, we will celebrate our 27th annual Ecumenical Meal, feeding some 400 residents a complete turkey dinner. And there are still the same churches involved, blending various demoninations together to cook and serve these meals.

Over the years, I have made it very clear that it was not my idea - I "stole" it from the Beerman family.

I too was a member of Trotwood Rescue and worked the Beerman Dinners. It was always a great event that we looked forward to. We spent a lot of time sitting there watching all the people enjoying each others company. And most weren't there because of being poor and having to be there, they were there to enjoy each others company.
