I need some information about Dick Clark. In the late 50’s or early 60’s, he had the Calvacade of Stars, starring a lot of the later really big stars. A lot of the stars are probably not recognized like Johnny Tillotson, Brian Hyland and a few others. The Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas before they were stars. It played Dayton and I’m not sure where. I thought UD arena but it might have been too early for that. I wonder if anyone remembers that show or Dick Clark?

I remember Dick Clark as having The American Bandstand Show. It was on for many years. He had about all the Rock and Roll stars of the 50's and 60's. I don't have info on when he left this show but it should be easy to find on the net. Dick had a bad stroke a few years back and also he did the New Years Eve show on TV for years.

Thanks super six. Now that you mention it, I think it was. Did you go? I have a program from that show and I think I will list them on here as soon as I review it. The lineup was really quite amazing, considering how big the Supremes became to have played Memorial Hall.

I saw Count Basie at the end of his career at Memorial Hall. Love the big band era!

I did not go to any of these. I think I was a year or two away from being interested in music. My older brother went. He said Alan Freed also had one of these types of shows that he saw at Memorial Hall. This was in the 1958-1960 time-frame.

supersix I went to my first around the time you mentioned and saw Little Richard. Being a newbie, I thought it was wild but enjoyed it.

For those who are interested about the Dick Clark “Calvacade of Stars Show" around that time, “Stay Tuned”. As soon as I locate my program from that show, I will post them on this thread. Should be interesting to see if anyone remembers any of the performers. I’ve got to find that program; last time I checked on Ebay, it was going for $200.00 in good condition.
