When I attended Chaminade they still played their games at Baujan field. Then we would go back to school to attend the "Sock Hop" in the gym. It was a sock hop because you had to leave your shoes out in the hall. It was embarassing if you had socks with holes in them.

Class of '68 here. I too remember the games at Baujan Field and the sock hops after the games. I always believed that the sockhops were a way for the gym floor to get dust mopped withoput paying the custodians. Sometimes, instead of the sock hop, we would go to the Village Inn on Siebenthaler for pizza after the game. Fun times that are not always available to high schoolers these days.

I, too, was a member of the class of '61. However, I can only remember one game at Baujan field (U.D. Campus), and that was the game against Fairmont, which I believe was the first or second game of that season. CHS won 14-6 (if memory serves me correctly), and brought to an end the 24-game win streak of Fairmont.

The last game of the '61 season was the City of Dayton Championship, vs Cl. White. They beat the Eagles pretty badly. That was Chaminade's last City League game. I believe the departure of CHS from the city league was brought on by the fact that every virtually every Friday night of the season, CHS would play the second game of a double-header; the first game usually had total attendance of about 500, but when Chaminade fans arrived, their side would have near 8,000 people. My understanding was that CHS finally decided that splitting the gate 4-ways did not make sense, when we were bringing in so many fans.
