Does anyone remember Bogan's on Woodman Drive. It was my grandfather's from the 50's through I believe 1975. He sold out to Lewis and Michael. I hardly knew my grandfather, Don Ledbetter. I was 5 years old the last time I saw him. It would be good to hear of any memeories.

Thank you.

The original location was by the tracks on 5th Street. I heard when grandpa bought the Woodman property it was like a swamp. He had to bring in land fill.

Re Dave: That would make sense about having to bring in fill because of it being a swampy area. Just back behind it is a little known park that has a place called the Woodman Fen with a swamp their as well. And across the street where Wendy`s is now, used to be a swamp area also with trees and everything there.

Thank you FreedomWriter. This confirms what I remember from 1963. I can't wait to come to Dayton this summer to do a snoop around visit. I also remember great hamburgers at the Red Barn.

Whenever I read interesting posts on this blog regarding areas of Dayton which I am not familiar with, it spurs me to investigate further. I like to use Google Maps satellite view to see what the areas look like today.

I found the location on Woodman / Wright Bros Pkwy, identified as Woodman Fen. There was an odd shaped structure visible in a clearing on the satellite view that I was going to ask about, however the Five Rivers MetroParks website article indicated below makes it clear that it is a raised boardwalk through the fen.

Thanks for this post. It has spurred my sense of adventure, and now I want to visit this park next time I come to Dayton, probably when I make another visit to the USAF Museum.

KennyE11, I also use Google Maps. I found the same thing and am wondering how much land fill was brought into the area. Google Maps is the next thing to being there.

I live right around the corner from the Woodman Fen. I have taken my grandson down there several times. It is a very nice little park. There is a boardwalk thru it with a couple of benches. We like to to go there to look at the frogs and fishes. The entrance is at the dead-end of Bauer Ave.
