Reading about the Diamond Club made me remember the summer of 1962 when my older brother took me to my first bar ever.I was 15 but I must have looked older because I never had any trouble getting in bars when I went with my older brother or sometimes both my older brothers.
In any event, one summer night when we were out and about he said he wanted to go hear Pal Jennings and his brother who were singing at the Twist Club.Of course I thought that was a wonderful idea.We went and I got to hear a great performance that I remember to this day. They had the best harmony especially when singing blues stuff.I would love to relive that night just so I could hear the Jennings Brothers sing again!
Does anyone besides me remember the place or the Jennings Brothers?

Believe your right olds88 about the w.third club and may have been called the Peppermint Twist club but not sure. Do know our group went to it a time or two and it had a mix of cultures going there due to UDs west campus being out there.

I used to go to both of the Twist Clubs. The one on West Third was owned by Louie Hargety. I was friends with him and his cousin Vendal Nagy. The one on east Third was once called Nagy's. My friend Vendal was the nephew of the Nagys. Anyways they were all related. I'm pretty sure they were all Hungarians. Another thing Louie owned Chicken Louie's and the Broaster Hut.

joey m, my grandmother used to work at Nagy's ( E. Third)back in 40's and maybe before that so I'm told by my 91 year old mother. Her name was Mary, she was a cook. Yes, they were all Hungarians, except my grandmother, she was Romanian.

Actually, I have an old coffee cup from Nagy's that my grandmother was given by Mr. Nagy because it has a small chip in it and he couldn't use it chipped. So, that cup has to be 70 some years old! In all of the conversations, I haven't seen Nagy's mentioned except here.

Used to go to Twist Club on E. Third St in about 1961, it was 1 or 2 blocks west of Terry St.
