LMD being a foodie to the max I frequented all three they were all very good. The Mac Daddy of them all was in Hagerstown In. It was worth the drive. It is now closed as it went down hill quickly after it was sold and I think it was sometime in the 90's. Can't be said for current cafeterias. (Golden Corral)

My all time favorite was the Virginia cafeteria on East 3rd Downtown. I guess my 2nd would have to be Kuntz on Troy. The food always tasted delicious, home made and cared about, nothing like the lower quality, processed frozen junk that we get offered in most of the current chain buffet restaurants of today.

I remember a place somewhere in Indiana called The Tank. Place was awesome and filled with memorabilia to give you something to look at while waiting to be called. Believe it was all you could eat seafood bouffet style. New Castle Ind is coming to mind. It also burned to the ground at some point in time. Kuntz cafeteria was still open in early 60s. Golden Corral still beats MCL and less expensive..

my Family went to Sacksteders Cafeteria at Wilmington Ave and Patterson road once week in the late 50's. I believe they also had another location in Dayton. Great food.

I dated the girl a couple of times of the owners of Culp's. Nice place, class. My Mother many times went to the Virginian. Those days when Dayton was a mecca were just irreplaceable. Of course Culp's on Far Hills and Culp's in the Arcade.

sam1972, strange the things that some people remember, but I also remember the very cold milk at the Virginia and I think that was the first place that I ever tried Salmon croquettes.

I grew up going to the Carrillon Cafeteria. My grandfather use to go hunting with the owner, Kenny Klees. So sad to see it close. Also ate at Sacksteader's in Belmont. The last time I ate there, I saw a mouse running along the the baseboard in the room I was eating in. There also use to a cafeteria at the Dayton Mall called The Forum. I ate there as a kid.

I think the forum was owned by Rike's. There was a cafeteria in Miracle Lane, too but I don't remember the name.

Don't remember the forum at all. Went to the Duff's in Springfield. Think cafeterias and some restaurants went by the wayside because of the owners having children not interested in taking over the business. Do think that happened to Dominics and the Carillon cafeteria. Spent many Monday's at carillon or Westward Ho and miss them all to this day. I believe on another thread someone said that Culps was moving their place in the Carillon Park area to the new big building that is being added in the park.
