Would love to find the waste management driver who picked up out off N Main st behind Forrest Park Shopping center. My grandson who was 4yrs old back in 2000 would wait faithfully for Justin to pick up his trash by waiting at end of driveway or standing at the living room window. His excitement built when he heard the truck heading to the house. If you asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up it was he wanted to be just like Justin and drive a trash truck. This kid was Justins biggest fan. If your still around please write me on this website as would love to update you on life for him and find out a little about yourself. This is the only way for me to maybe locate him. You actually stopped one day and gave him a drivers hat and gloves. Somebody has to know this driver and maybe heard him tell of this event. Thanks for your patience folks this isnt my usual blog

Call Waste Management, ask to speak with their local/district marketing director. Tell that individual exactly what you said here, and ask for WM's help in identifying Justin. They will not give you his contact information even if they have it, but would likely take your information and contact him on your behalf if they can ID/locate him.

A story of this type could be a PR goldmine for a company like WM, especially if the guy still works for them and they could get a DDN or local TV human interest story out of it. Might even get the guy a raise, or at least an "attaboy" if he's still there.

Thanks Calhoun while on here will try to locate a number to call. It would be great to locate the guy. He was a hero to one young kid before the hat and gloves and that speaks loudly. Our family will always have this story to pass around. Will inform you all if Justin comes forward. The family informed him of their move to Springboro and he told them sometimes he drove that route. Just talked with my grandson and he still remembers him to this day. He said he also got a toy trash truck along with the hat and gloves. Grandson will be 18 in Sept and now lives in Austin Tx.

Just called today and they loved the story but couldn't be any help except for if we had the guys last name. After all these years it would be looking for a needle in a haystack. Will give it time as weeks later there may be someone who will be able to respond on this site.

Sounds like either you didn't get high enough up the chain at WM or they are just lazy. There is certainly enough information in your story for them to track down the guy's identity. If nothing else they could go back through payroll records for the period in question and figure out who he was/is, especially if his legal first name is "Justin" and you know an approximate age. Hard to believe some one at WM doesn't see this as the great public relations opportunity it is.

Have you considered contacting someone like DL Stewart to do a story on this? Too bad Dale Huffman is retired, he'd do the story justice.

Am trying to get further info from daughter as not even sure it was the correct company he worked for. She has a friend who did the news on tv and may be able to get them involved. Not to worry it will come one of these days.

Speaking of waste-collection drivers, I remember when I lived on Cushing (one street over from LMD), we paid for our collections. The man would come around, monthly, for his check. And when he picked up the trash, he walked back to the garage, carried the can(s) to his truck, then returned the can(s) to the area near the garage. What Service!
Now, living in Maine, things are different. Two weeks ago, I failed to get my trash out to the end of the driveway in time (this is not a habit - being late for the trash), and the truck had already done MY SIDE of the street. I left the cans there, knowing WMI would be coming back for THE OTHER SIDE, soon. As I expected, even though the street is barely 2-cars wide, when the truck returned to get my neighbor's trash, DIRECTLY OPPOSITE mine, they just ignored picking up mine. What? Service?

Don't know if that's par for the course or just someones mind somewhere else. Have noticed that work ethics everywhere just aren't what they used to be especially when theirs nothing in it for them. People used to have a good feeling within themselves when doing a little something extra for someone. Not so much anymore. Hope someday to hear from Justin or someone who knows him. The guy had a big heart.
