Patrolling Dayton- Writings by Sgt. Grismer (ret.). 

 Sgt. Stephen Grismer (ret) is a 25-year veteran of the Dayton Police Department.  He entered the police academy in 1976 and was later assigned to uniform patrol duties in the Fifth District.  Promoted in 1986, he experienced a broad career having worked investigations, staff, internal affairs, drug enforcement, vice, intelligence and training.  He was a member of the hostage negotiation team, the vice president of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police and an FOP official in a variety of roles from 1988 to present day.  
In 2008 he helped produce a police exhibit at Carillon Park, Patrolling the Streets of Dayton.  It was the largest temporary exhibit held at the park’s newest museum facility at that time, the Dicke Family Transportation Center,and visited by 20,000 school students.   
Steve founded Dayton Police History Foundation, Inc. In 2008 a six-month exhibit opened at Carillon Park whose theme was "Patrolling the Streets of Dayton". The exhibit told the story of the Dayton police force using photographs, artifacts and text. The text for the exhibit has been reproduced here.
